Methyl-β-cyclodextrin is one of derivatives of cyclodextrin that are currently studied and widely used currently.

Methyl-β-cyclodextrin has high solubility in both water and organic solvent. Used in pharmaceuticals, it can improve stability, bioavailability and efficacy. It can also adjust or control release rate of pharmaceuticals and to reduce their side effects. It’s particularly effective in improving water solubility of oil-soluble molecules.

       In cosmetics, it can diminish bio-contamination, ease off displeasing odor, relieve irritation to the skin and to promote transdermal absorption of active ingredients 

       In common derivatives of cyclodextrin, methyl-β-cyclodextrin has strong surface tension.
